Technical FAQ

Limestone — Common Questions

Kota stone is quarried specifically from Ramganj Mandi, Kota District, Rajasthan — India's 'Stone City'. Its bluish-green and brown range, high compressive strength (60–120 N/mm²), non-porous surface and high-shine polish capability distinguish it from generic limestone.
Yes. Kota limestone is the standard institutional floor across major Indian airports, railway stations, shopping malls and hospitals — its combination of strength, low maintenance cost and non-porous surface make it the institutional default at scale.
Kota limestone is comparatively non-porous, but sealing with a breathable impregnating sealer is recommended for pool surrounds, wet areas and outdoor installations to prevent mineral staining.
Heavy slabs (18–30mm) are for floors, pool copings and structural applications. Limestone veneer (2mm flexible sheet) is for walls, furniture and curved surfaces. See our Limestone Veneer page.
Yes — high freeze-thaw resistance is a documented property of Kota limestone, which is regularly exported to the UK, Germany, Canada and the northern USA where these conditions apply.
